Race Info

The 2017 Ocean State Rhode Races in Narragansett, RI will be held on Sunday October 29. Race weekend features a Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k Race.

The Marathon will start at 7:30 am, the Half Marathon will start at 8:00 AM and the 5k at 8:15 am, all on Sunday

This genuine Rhode Island marathon will showcase what is great about the Ocean State.  Not only does the course feature iconic Rhode Island beauty, our post race festival will include an authentic Rhode Island experience at the Narragansett Town Beach.

The marathon course is USATF certified and is a Boston Marathon Qualifier

The Ocean State Rhode Races Half is the final stop of the Rhode Race Series, a five stop series of Rhode Island Half Marathons.

Live Athlete Tracking

We are pleased to share Live Runner/Participant Tracking for the Ocean State Rhode Races is available in the RaceJoy mobile app! Participants must carry their phone and activate tracking within 30 minutes of the race start. You can learn more at www.racejoy.com.

Pace Groups

Pace groups for the full and half marathon will be provided by Rhode Island Road Runners. They will have pacers running at marathon paces of: 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:20 and 4:40. There will also be pacers running at half marathon paces of: 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30 and 2:45. Interested in learning more about our pace teams. Race Specific T-shirts and Medals

Gender and Race Specific tech t-shirts will be included in your race registration.  Early registration guarantees your selected size.  Registration after September 15, only available shirt sizes will be listed.  Shirts may be exchanged for size at the conclusion of the race.

Race specific finisher medals will be handed out at the finish line to participants of the Ocean State Marathon and Half Marathon.

Course Limits

The Marathon course will be secured for six hours and the Half Marathon will be secured for three and a half hours. Walkers are welcome for both races but after the time limits the course willl be open to traffic and aid stations will be closed.

Aid Stations

Aid Stations will be available throughout the course. Please review the course maps to see the exact location of all medical and water stops. Some aid stations will have Clif energy gels, energy drink and bananas.  Port-a-potties will be at all aid stations after mile 7.

Post Race

The post race recovery area consists of food and beverages for all athletes.
We will be featuring genuine Rhode Island fun!

Ocean State Marathon and Half Marathon are the final stop in Rhode Racing Series.  Those completing the Series should visit our Awards Tent at the conclusion of the race to receive their swag!

THE GREEN EFFECT

Rhode Races & Events is committed to recycling at this year’s Ocean State Rhode Races. Road Races create a lot of waste, but we’ll reduce our footprint by diverting hundreds of pounds of cardboard boxes, water jugs, and plastic bottles from the landfill.
